Neil, from Ebbw Vale, is a retired Police Officer, and father of 3. He can trace family lineage in Welsh Table Tennis back to 1934/35 season when grandfather Daniel Arthur OConnell won the mixed double event at the Welsh Closed of that year. He is involved in the sport at both grass roots and strategic level. He is a qualified UKCC level 1 Coach, National Umpire and Team Manager, He runs Ael-y-Bryn TTC.

Mostyn, from Swansea, recently retired from a senior role in industry and has returned to TTW as director responsible for coach education and development. He works closely with the National Coach to develop the Welsh coaching structure and to provide broader coaching opportunities. He is a qualified UKCC Level 2 coach himself as well as a coach tutor.

Neil started playing  Paralympic  Table tennis following a car accident  in which he suffered a spinal injury aged 18yrs. He first represented Great Britain in 1981. Over the next 27yrs he competed in 7 Paralympic games (winning 7 medals including 1 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze), became World ranked no 1 in 1996 and 1997, became European singles champion in 1995 and won 3 world championship medals.  He retired from competition after Beijing Paralympics 2008.    In January 2009 he became part of the GB Paralympic coaching team.  He coached at the London Paralympics and is currently working in the Rio 2016 cycle. He was awarded an MBE for services to Disabled sport in the 2012 new years honours list. He became a member of TTW board in November 2012 primarily to work on an inclusion project.
