Blackpool 2* Open
19th March 2018
Congratulations to Yameen Al-Dahiri on winning the Blackpool Junior Open at the weekend. As number 1 seed Yameen was favorite to win the event but did it in style on the day beating John Strang in the final 11/4, 11/9, 11/2.
Brother Rashad lost in the Junior plate final (to Sam Kershner) and QF of the Cadet Open (to Toby Ellis)
Italian Para Open
19th March 2018
Tom Matthews, Paul Karabardak & Josh Stacey won a variety of medals at the Italian Para Open which was held in Lignano 14-17th March.
Tom won the Gold in Class 1, Paul Silver in Class 6 and Josh Bronze in Class 9 in the individuals.
The second part of the event saw the players combine to claim further medals. Josh was part of the Gold winning Class 9-10 team with partners Kim Daybell & Ashley Facey Thompson. Tom Matthews partnered Swiss player Sylvio Keller in the Class 1 where they took Silver losing out to the hosts Italy. Paul Karabardack teamed with Martin Perry and Dave Wetherill but they couldn't make it past the Class 6 semis losing to the German team.

Cleveland Grand Prix
13th March 2018
Kate Roberts added some great results to her Glasgow explots last month in winning the women's Band 1 and finishing 3rd in the Women's Open and Runner Up in the U21 singles.
The other Welsh player on show was Ryan Owen who lost in the Band 2 QF and Band 1 SF. The following day Ryan lost in the last 16 of the Men's Open to Naill Cameron of Scotland.

ITTF Czech Open
19th February 2018
Anna Hursey lost out in Q-Final of the cadet girls doubles and the Last 16 of the singles in the final days of the ITTF Czech Open last weekend.
The youngster lost 3/2 to World number 2 cadet from Romania after taking a 2/1 lead. Elena Zaharia produced some great table tennis when forced to by Anna's attacking game.
In the doubles Anna paired with Czech player Helena Zommerova and they reached the final 8. There they faced a tough French pair and they lost close 3/1 after a chance to take it to the 5th set.
Anna is currently training with a club in Hodonin where she hopes to join next season.
Welsh Primary Schools Championships
13th February 2018
With 32 teams participating in the 2018 National Primary Schools Team competition, the chase for top spot was always going to to be tough. Brynawel made it as Sasha Lewis and Jordan Price combined to take Team Gold. Upper Rhymney A secured Silver with Llangan beating Plasyfelin A into Bronze place.
TCW Vets

Congratulations to Eastern Vally A (Division 1) and Eastern Valley C (Division 2) on winning their respective division at the Team Championships of Wales which concluded last weekend.
Lee Thomas (Div 1) and Mark Edmunds (Div 2) topped the respective divisions in the player averages.
West of Scotland Open
6th February 2018
Beth Roberts and Dean Cundy partnered up to claim the mixed doubles at the West of Scotland Open in Glasgow last weekend. Beth unfortunately lost in the women's singles final to Rebecca Plaistow to take runners up spot.
Dean Cundy lost in the Q-Finals of the singles with Pouyan Javanmard losing out in the Last 16. Kate Roberts also lost in the Q-Finals of the singles and the Semis of the doubles with Beth.
Newport U13, Cadet & Junior Open
5th February 2018
Benedict Watson and Anna Hursey won the Junior title respectively at the Newport Open, which took place at the Cities Velodrome.
Benect beat top seed Yameen Al-Dahiri in the final 3/1 after sweeping aside all other opponents on the way to the title. He will be a force at the National Championships in a months time. Anna beat Lara Whitton in both the Junior and cadet girls finals. It wasnt all plain sailing for the 11 year old Commonwealth sensation as she had to navigate through a loss to lara at the group stages before getting revenge in the final. Lauren Stacey impressed with some good wins herself.
Joseph Roberts beat top seed Ben Allen in the cadet boys final. There are a few players hoping to steal the title in Cardiff at the Nationals shortly. Louie Evans and Jac O'Duffy made the Semis.
It was an Ael y Bryn double in the U13 categories as Evan Williams and Ruby Elliott took the trophies back to the Valleys in their respective finals.
Congratulations to all the winners, Runners Up and other players for a top competition all day. Ranking points will be updated shortly.
Cardiff Dragon

Congratulations to Benedict Watson (Open event), Piotr (U9s), Toby Harwood (U11s), Jayden Meadows (U13s) and Evan Williams (U15s) were are successful in their categories last weekend at the Cardiff Dragon held at Cardiff City Community TTC.
TCW - Final Weekend
28th January 2018
St Mellons TTC claimed the Premier Division with the narrowest of margins edging out Rhondda in a dramatic countback situation. With a better points ratio than the Tonypandy based team, the Cardiff players earned the prizes and the money for their club. Ryan Oyler, Huw Standen & Joshua Stacey made up the team.
In Division 1 the champions were Cardiff league A. Division 2 went to Blaenavon A. The third division was topped by Carmarthen B and Caerphilly went on to win Division 4. Finally North Gwent B beat their team members North Gwent C in Division 5.
North Wales Open
21st January 2018
Yameen Al-Dahiri claimed top spot at the North Wales Open held in Trefnant yesterday. The Bridgend born youngster beat Abhishek Bathula 3/0 to lift the Gold. In the Cadet singles Ben Moore won by the closest of margins in the final against Rashad Al-Dahiri. The match swayed back and forth until Ben won the final 2 points with score at 9-9 in the 5th end.
Thanks to Trefnant TTC for hosting a great day. Focus now turns to the Newport Open in 2 weeks for the Cadet and Junior players who needs points for the National Championships in March.
ITTF Hungarian World Tour
16th January 2018
Charlotte Carey beat Czech player Aneta Kucerova 4/2 in the first match of the ITTF Hungarian Open which is taking place in Budapest. The scores were -8,10,6,-3,5,7. In the other group match versus Dora Madarasz of Hungary, World Ranked 104, Charlotte lost out 1/4 (12/10,11/6,11/7,7/11,11/7).
Charlotte partnered up with Israel's Nicole Trosman and beat 2 Indians in Round one 3/1, but couldn't manage to take the Eqyptians in Round two losing 1/3

Welsh Cadet Challenge
14th January 2018
JLTT won the first WCC yesterday in Cardiff. Joseph Roberts and Louie Evans teamed up to beat Urban Plymouth (Gemma Kerr and Millie Rogove) in the final 3/0. Urban played regional friends Plymouth TDC in an all England semi whilst JLTT beat Hereford (Ben Allen and Lauren Stacey) in the other half. Hereford secured 3rd spot after a 3/1 win over Plymouth TDC in the Bronze match.
26 teams entered the event and with a minimum of 12 singles matches, everyone had plenty of table time over the 8 1/2 hours of play.

It is with great sadness that we inform you that Bernard Carter passed away over the New Year period after a brief illness.Bernie had made a massive contribution to the sport over the years, more recently as Chair of TTW.He will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with his wife Brenda and the family at this difficult time.

Callum Evans won the Band 1 defeating one of England's best in Michael O'Driscoll in the final. Callum also reached the final of the U21 singles where he lost to Matt Leete.
Jamie-Lee Harley reached the SF of the band 4 singles on Saturday and there were other players reaching QF stages (Grace Clement B4, Callum Evans Men's Singles)

Junior County Premier

Glamorgan took runners up spot at the Junior premier weekend played in Wellingborough over the weekend 16/17th December.
Led by the in-form Anna Hursey (100% - 12 wins), Beth Richards (8 wins), Louie Evans (6 wins), Benedict Watson (6 wins) and Cade Short (2 wins) all contributed to the Silver medals.

USA Para Open
16th December 2017
Josh Stacey has added 2 more medals to his collection at the US Open in Las Vegas this week. The St Mellons and Grantham star lost in the semi finals of the singles to USA player Leibovitz 3/2 to settle for 3rd place. Leibovitz is ranked 7th place on the latest World ranking - 8 places higher than Josh.
Josh picked himself up and teamed up with England's Kim Daybell as GB won their group matches to set up a final vs Indonisia. They lost a very close final 2/1 to settle for the silver medal
