"Insport"

TTW has been invited by Disability Sport Wales (DSW) to be one of only 8 sports to engage with and commit to achieving the “Insport” NGB Ribbon level.

The aim of the insport project is for DSW to work with key stakeholders in sport and leisure, supporting them in developing an inclusive philosophy, working cultures, policies and practices to ensure that delivery and development are consistently and ultimately implicitly inclusive.

Insport consists of 3 different programmes, split into 4 standards (Ribbon, Bronze, Silver and Gold), each of which is aimed at a different segment of the sport and leisure sector:

Insport has already been successfully introduced at Ribbon standard across all Local Authorities and 197 clubs have currently achieved one of the standards within insport Club (Ribbon – 120 clubs; Bronze – 20 clubs; Silver – 5 clubs; and Gold – 2) so far there are three table tennis clubs to have achieved Ribbon namely Wildmill, Carmarthen and Penlan – and this is continuing to grow.

 With the growth of disability sport in Wales, and the success and profile of the recent Paralympic Games, this is the right time to challenge ourselves to further drive the principles of inclusion across all aspects of delivery – whether playing, officiating, coaching or administration.

This work is being led by the TTW Board Equity sub-group, which is looking to increase participation from disabled people, women and girls, black and minority ethnic communities and all people aged over 55.
